In my time of grave pain and Complex Grief, I found peace through the marking of pulp and textiles. In creating this piece, I found myself staring into this young one’s eyes and watching the past and the future meet, as if at some ethereal horizon. I was compelled with each stroke and splatter as he began to take on a life of his own, and once he was able to stare back at me, I understood that this boy had been here before. Thus, he became, “Old Soul.”
